Martial Art Class - Yip Kin Wing Choon

Introduction:

Grandmaster Yip Kin learned Wing Choon from a gentleman named Soo Kai Ming at Baiyun Mountain in China. He then continued his martial studies on the famous Red Boat Opera Troupe which used to travel along the rivers in Southern China. He later migrated to Peninsular Malaya in 1918 where he started teaching Wing Choon.

Grandmaster Yip Fook Choy ( the grandson of Grandmaster Yip Kin) systemetised the system further so that the students can learn faster without losing the essence of the knowledge and understanding of Wing Choon principles. He also promoted the art through different media channels like TV, newspapers and magazines. He also taught students from overseas.

Yip Kin Wing Choon (YKWC) is both different and similar to other Wing Chun schools around the world due to a different journey in the martial arts world. It is a close quarter combat which is designed for those who are small sized as well as ladies. In order to compensate the lack of physical strength for YKWC practitioners, it uses its understanding of the human body, alignments, leverages and positions between the defender and opponents for self-preservation.
